Extra Credit for Govt kids:
2016 is an election year!! I strongly encourage students to get involved in campaigns as a way of learning about our government, acting on their beliefs, and giving back to the community. Government students can receive extra credit for volunteering with any campaign, just bring in a letter from your supervisor at campaign headquarters as proof. You must volunteer for a total of at least 5 hours to receive extra credit. What to do when you call to set up a time to volunteer: "Hello, my name is ______ and I am calling to inquire about volunteering with a campaign. Can you let me know what I need to do to get involved?" Don't be afraid to tell them what kind of work you prefer to do. Some options might be phone banking, walking door to door, or basic office work. Government students may also attend legal proceedings at the local courts and then write a 1.5-2 page summary of what they observed. All court proceedings are open to the public and can be observed, although students should observe proper behavior when attending court proceedings. MARCH 2 SUCCESS Login info:
